The Municipality of Ghent has been actively pursuing initiatives to mainstream diversity, equity and inclusion within its organisation. As they join forces with the DiGiN project, Ghent is set to amplify these efforts, shaping a more inclusive future for its community and workforce.

In recent years, Ghent has embarked on a journey to weave diversity and inclusion more deeply into its organisational fabric. This commitment has seen the development of various initiatives aimed at creating an equitable work environment and ensuring that all employees feel valued and supported.

The DiGiN project offers us new tools and methodologies to further empower our workforce. By building on our strong foundation with innovative support systems, we’re not just committing to an inclusive workplace but actively shaping one.” notes Aarnout Lanckriet, Diversity and Inclusion Consultant for the city.

With DiGiN, the city is looking to build on this foundation by introducing more support systems for its employees and reinforcing its commitment to an inclusive workplace.

Ghent is enthusiastic about the potential for mutual learning and exchange within the DiGiN network. The collaboration is seen as a valuable opportunity to share experiences and best practices, which can further refine their DEI strategies.

“We are eager to learn from our partners and contribute our insights to this vibrant community,” Lanckriet adds.

Through its collaboration with the DiGiN project, Ghent is reinforcing its dedication to building a diverse and inclusive municipality. By integrating DEI monitoring and evaluation tools, Ghent is not only looking to enhance its internal policies but also to set an example for other cities aiming to advance their DEI agendas.
