At DiGiN, we believe that fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is the cornerstone of creating strong, resilient, and equitable communities. To support municipalities in embedding DEI into their governance structures, we are excited to announce the launch of our #InclusiveMunicipalitiesEU campaign. This initiative aims to promote inclusive governance and workplace policies while shedding light on the inspiring best practices we are developing through DiGiN.
About the campaign
This campaign introduces the DEI Capacity Assessment Tool: an open-access resource developed specifically for municipalities. It is designed to help municipalities to evaluate their progress in institutional DEI mainstreaming, identify strengths and uncover areas for improvement. The campaign also introduces some inspiring practices from municipalities demonstrating how inclusive policies and initiatives are making a difference in workplaces and communities.
Why this campaign matters
Municipalities are more than service providers and policy making institutions, they are workplaces that employ individuals from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, municipalities make decisions that affect a wide range of citizens in an increasingly globalized world. By using the DEI Capacity Assessment Tool, municipalities can:
- Assess their current workplace practices using evidence-based indicators.
- Pinpoint opportunities to create equitable, inclusive and supportive environments.
- Track progress over time ensuring continuous improvement and sustainability.
Our goal is to not only inspire municipalities but also extend the campaign to organisations, policymakers and advocates who share a vision for inclusive and equitable workplaces.
Campaign timeline
The #InclusiveMunicipalitiesEU campaign will officially launch on March 1, Zero Discrimination Day, and will continue through March 8, International Women’s Day, celebrating inclusion and equity in governance. The campaign will extend to May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), ensuring sustained engagement with municipalities and stakeholders.
