Yellow Window is not only driving transformative Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives but also spearheading the project’s communication and dissemination efforts across European municipalities. This dual focus on building DEI capacity and enhancing the project’s outreach aims to facilitate profound and sustainable change within municipal structures.
The team has committed to several immediate goals to support the project. First, they are dedicated to equipping municipal officials and staff through targeted training and development programmes with the necessary skills to champion DEI effectively. These include cultural assessment workshops that help municipalities gauge their current DEI status and identify areas for improvement. These workshops provide municipalities with a clear roadmap for embedding DEI into their operations.
Yellow Window is also developing a comprehensive DEI toolkit to equip municipalities with practical guidelines and strategies for integrating DEI principles seamlessly into their practices.
Moreover, Yellow Window is enhancing the way achievements and learnings from the project are communicated both within the participating municipalities and to a broader audience. By leading the creation and distribution of informative materials and engaging content, Yellow Window ensures that the successes and insights from the DiGiN project are widely shared, understood, and applied.
“We’re not only supporting the adoption of DEI strategies; we’re also ensuring these practices are effectively communicated and integrated into municipal governance structures. Our aim is to inspire change that extends beyond individual cities, contributing to a culture of inclusivity across Europe” explains Lut Mergaert, Research Director at Yellow Window.
“True transformation comes from understanding and changing the underlying systems within institutions. Through the DiGiN project, we are providing knowledge and guidance and we are equipping change agents with the tools they need to create lasting impact in their communities” Mergaert adds.
Yellow Window’s role in the DiGiN project is in line with the commitment to both fostering effective governance and nurturing inclusive communities across Europe. Through strategic capacity building, resource development and a robust communication strategy, Yellow Window is setting new benchmarks for how municipalities can embrace and institutionalise DEI.
